Christopher was born in Mossman, Far North Queensland but was raised in country of Larrakia, Wurrumungu, and Kaurna nations where he had completed most of his primary and secondary schooling, culminating with completion of a Bachelor of Health Science (Aboriginal Health and Community Development) Honours 2 on the country of the Darug nation.
Over the past 40 years, Christopher has held roles in Australian public services from field officer, project officer to senior and executive management. His career focus has always been towards Aboriginal people’s empowerment and self-determination. This has led him to working in diverse fields including Indigenous health and welfare statistics, child protection, juvenile justice, legal aid, aged and disability advocacy, and Indigenous employment and training, plus teaching in undergraduate programs at Sydney University, Batchelor Institute, University of Adelaide, University of South Australia.
Christopher is also currently writing his doctoral dissertation on how Aboriginal fathers advocate for the wellbeing and safety of vulnerable children and their families in three rural and remote communities from within the Northern Territory and Queensland jurisdictions.
