  1. MEDIA RELEASE | New Centre for Research Excellence to uncover One Health solutions in Timor-Leste

RESPOSTA is a new Centre for Research Excellence (CRE) which will strengthen collaborations between Australian, Timorese and Indonesian institutions undertaking One Health research based on local and regional priorities.

It will build on existing partnerships, health system capacity strengthening, and a strong track record of research translation into policy and practice in Timor-Leste, to support innovative research into One Health challenges in Timor-Leste that have relevance for cross-border collaborations with Indonesia, Australia and the broader region.

Our Research Focus:

The overall aim of the CRE is to promote excellence in One Health research, surveillance and responses, through capacity strengthening, support for local leadership, and partnerships across Timor-Leste, Australia and Nusa Tenggara Timur (NTT), Indonesia.

The objectives of the CRE are to:

  1. Conduct research focused on epidemiological analysis across human, animal and environmental sectors, and the discovery, implementation and evaluation of evidence-based solutions to One Health challenges;
  2. Strengthen capacity for One Health surveillance, research, and cross-sectoral responses through training, mentoring and partnerships across Timor-Leste, NTT Indonesia and Australia;
  3. Support translation of research findings into national, sub-national and regional One Health plans, policies and practices.
