Isobel graduated with a Graduate Diploma of Health Research in 2023 and is continuing to study a Master of Health Research. 

Why did you choose to study public health?

I wanted to have a ‘bigger picture’ understanding of health and health systems than is provided through clinical work and study.

Why did you choose to study through Menzies?

I was hoping to gain an appreciation of Indigenous Australian culture, barriers to equity and ongoing impacts of colonisation while also learning about the public health approach.

What were the highlights of your studies with Menzies?

Some of my highlights include:

  • visiting Darwin
  • a far better insight into issues which impact the health of Indigenous Australians
  • a genuine appreciation of different understanding of ‘health’
  • very patient and encouraging academic staff
  • a flexible approach to enable me to complete the Diploma amongst work, family and Covid.
