Menzies Education awards scholarship assistance to outstanding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled in Charles Darwin University’s postgraduate public health and health research courses.The Menzies Education Scholarship Panel reviews all submitted applications and awards tuition scholarships to the most worthy candidates. The criteria used to assess applications includes the course of study, how postgraduate study will impact on the applicants’ lives, and their need.

The Menzies 2022 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship was awarded to Corrine Butler. In her application, she demonstrated significant achievements in the academic and employment areas, extra-curricular activities, as well as a commitment to improving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.


Corrine Butler – Master of  Health Research

Corrine is a proud Aboriginal woman with strong family connections to Yarrabah, Far North Queensland. She has over twelve years experience delivering occupational therapy services in a wide range of areas, including mental health, community and population health.  

In 2020, Corrine was awarded the 2020 Menzies Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Postgraduate Coursework Scholarship to complete the Graduate Diploma of Health Research part time. Corrine successfully completed the Graduate Diploma of Health Research in December 2021.  

Corrine looks forward to continuing her study at Menzies School of Heath Research. Obtaining the Menzies 2022 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Postgraduate Scholarship supports Corrine to complete the Master of Health Research which will assist her significantly in her career goal of completing a PhD.

The Master of Health Research offers advanced knowledge and skills in health research. The skills that Corrine will gain such as planning and implementing a substantial research project will equip her with the skills necessary to achieve her career goal.
