Jayde Hopkins is a proud Gurindji and Woolwonga woman from Darwin. She is currently completing her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at La Trobe University. She is fascinated by microbiology and genetics and hopes to become an infectious disease researcher.

Jayde also combines her passion for science with her talent for art, having been commissioned for corporate artwork.

Throughout 2022, Jayde developed a series of artworks based on the theme of scientific discovery at Menzies School of Health Research. Seven novel species were selected for the project, six bacteria and a jellyfish, which were discovered through the collaborative efforts of Menzies researchers with the wider scientific community.
