Professor Louise Baur AM, FAHMS

Biography:

Louise Baur is Chair of Child and Adolescent Health at the University of Sydney, with a conjoint appointment as Professor in the Sydney School of Public Health. She is an NHMRC Leadership Fellow (2022-2026). She is also a consultant paediatrician at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Sydney where she is an active member, and former Head, of Weight Management Services which provides care for children and adolescents with severe obesity and prediabetes.

Louise is President of the World Obesity Federation (2022-2024). She has had previous roles as Director on the Governing Board of the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, as a Director of World Vision Australia and as a Founding Fellow and member of Council of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences. In 2010, Louise was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for services to medicine and the community.

Louise Baur’s research interests include the prevention and management of obesity in children and young people, health service responses to obesity, food marketing and children, and the measurement of obesity-related behaviours.
