Ms Patricia (Trish) Angus PSM

Biography:

Trish is a Jawoyn woman from Katherine, Northern Territory; residing in Darwin for the past 29 years.

Trish commenced her career as a registered nurse, followed by a 12-month ward administration certificate midwifery certificate the following year. Trish holds a Masters in Tropical Health (MTH) and her nursing and health career experiences have been working in public hospitals, clinic coordinator with an Aboriginal community-controlled health service, community health clinics and the Royal Australian Air Force.

Following completion of her MTH Trish moved into health policy, service and program development and management within the NT Department of Health. Trish was promoted to the Department’s Executive as Assistant Secretary Aboriginal and Community Health. She then undertook several public sector executive development programs and went on to hold senior executive public-sector positions with the NT Public Service (NTPS) across a range of areas, including Housing, Local Government, Regional Services, Aboriginal Affairs and Community Services. For her service to public sector policy and Aboriginal programs and services Trish was awarded the Public Service Medal at the 2013 Australia Day Awards.

Trish retired from full time work in May 2012 and since then held the following roles: Charles Darwin University’s Vice Chancellor’s Indigenous Advisory Council; NT Primary Health Network Community Health Committee; Ministerial appointment to Top End Hospitals Governing Council; Ministerial appointment to Top End Health Services Board, including membership on Finance Risk and Audit Committee, Health Outcomes Committee and Community Health Committee; Commonwealth Ministerial appointment to Indigenous Board Australia; and BlueEarth Board Victoria

Trish was a member of the Ministerially appointed Independent Expert Panel to review the NT Government's Alcohol Policy in 2017. In 2020 she was a member of the Menzies Quinquennial Review Independent Expert Panel team.
