The Indigenous Life Skills Development Project (IYLSD) aimed to develop and pilot a life skills training program for Indigenous youth in remote settings and determine the effectiveness of the proposed approach to community engagement and implementation. We worked with elders and community youth workers, firstly in Maningrida and later in other communities across the Top End to develop a curriculum and resources that would strengthen young peoples’ social and emotional skills to help young people cope, make positive life choices and avoid self-destructive behaviours.
