Leigh graduated from the Master of Public Health in 2017.

Why did you choose to study public health?

Having spent the last 30 years working as a pharmacist in rural and remote areas, I found that I had many unanswered questions about the health and wellbeing of people in these communities. The Master of Public Health has helped launch me on the journey to begin answering some of these questions and finding solutions through research.

Why did you choose to study through Menzies?

Menzies has a good reputation for research in Northern Australia.

What qualification did you graduate from Menzies with?

Master of Public Health.

Have your studies with Menzies led to further study, and if so what course are you enrolled in or have you completed?

I think the rest of my life will involve learning of all types, and whether or not that includes further formal study and qualifications or not, is yet to be decided.

What were the highlights of your studies with Menzies?

The relevant content and opportunities for a research project in my area of interest. I also had a great lecturer who provided valuable feedback and a very knowledgeable and experienced supervisor.

Has your public health qualification opened up career opportunities?

Yes, it has. The Master of Public Health has given me the opportunity to apply for teaching, research and policy roles that I would otherwise not have been eligible for.

What is your role/position now?

Lecturer in Nursing and Allied Health at Flinders University in Darwin.
