Why did you choose to study public health?

My undergraduate degree was Business and I worked as an accountant in for-profit organisations for a number of years. Opportunities and personal interest lead me to not-for-profit as an accountant but as my career progressed I needed to broaden my understanding of significant issues impacting on the populations I was working with.

What were the highlights of your studies with Menzies?

I really enjoyed the face to face intensive sessions. The lecturers had real life experience and were able to engage at a practical level but support and broaden the discussion with research and academic knowledge and referencing.
I also enjoyed much of the suggested readings. It is great to be able to access and discuss recent research that is relevant to my work as well as the course.

Has your public health qualification opened up career opportunities?

I consider yes. I commenced the qualification in one job and industry and secured my current role while studying. Studying in this field for me broadened my understanding of major issues and also the current language and interventions in public health. I consider this gave me confidence to apply for a leadership position in an area of public health.
