Bupe graduated from the Master of Public Health in 2018.

Why did you choose to study public health?

I have worked as a Registered Nurse in private and public hospitals for 26 years and wanted to understand why some clients from remote locations and specific demographics presented with certain conditions. It was the right time for me to embark on an academic adventure in a change of settings. I felt studying public health would offer many opportunities for career progression or in research.

Why did you choose to study through Menzies?

I was impressed by the units offered, such as global health and health policy. I also found it to be a friendly learning environment in a multicultural university.

What qualification did you graduate from Menzies with?

Master of Public Health.

What were the highlights of your studies with Menzies?

The academic support I received was exceptional. The lecturers went the extra mile to offer help to students and guide them.  I would like to specifically thank Sharon Thompson and Louise Clark for their hard work.

Has your public health qualification opened up career opportunities?

I hope so. One of the positive outcomes of my public health knowledge and community development skills, I have started a non-governmental organisation in Tanzania, the Zawadi Yangu Initiative, which focuses on female empowerment and child protection.

What is your role/position now?

Senior Registered Nurse.
