The ways to measure brain function and mental health in mainstream societies are not appropriate for diverse cultural groups including Aboriginal Australians. This project aims to develop and validate assessments of brain function (cognition) and mental health that are appropriate for use with Aboriginal people. These assessments can then be used in research, education, corrective services and primary care with Aboriginal Australians.

The aim of this work is to provide appropriate assessments with normative criterion and data, for the valid assessment of mental health and cognitive function for Indigenous Australians. To therefore enable Indigenous Australians to access adequate mental health identification and services as other Australians.
