The Menzies School of Health Research (MSHR) is the only Australian health and medical research institute with a primary focus on the health of Indigenous communities and people living in tropical and remote areas.
MSHR headquarters are located on the Royal Darwin Hospital Campus and we also operate a smaller unit in Alice Springs co-located with the Centre for Remote Health, and a joint research facility with the Indonesian Ministry of Health’s National Institute of Health Research and Development, in Timika, Indonesia.
Over the past twenty years our research has diversified and is now housed in six research major, inter-disciplinary health research Divisions:
Our researchers work in over forty communities across the Northern Territory and our research and expertise touches the lives of many. We have a budget of over $17 million, employ almost 180 staff and are currently engaged in over 50 research projects. Menzies today has the reputation of being the leader in Indigenous and tropical health in Australia and beyond.
