The MIDU logo has many meanings. The overall shape has the Rainbow Serpent encompassing the androgynous female/male spirit of Aboriginal people and culture.  The overall shape is a seed – meaning new beginnings (community relations/academic program); egg shape representing new life (research) and heart shape to show strength, courage, compassion, sensitivity and love.   The Spirit figure is looking up to show Indigenous staff aiming higher in education and in life. Look at the spirit figure on the right is a message stick – Aboriginal people, this is where we come from. Traditional. Always be a part of our being and knowledge.   The rolled up degree representing western learning.   Spirit figures mouth is open – for communication and developing new networks, new ways, new partnerships.

The tail is flowing up the spirit body is the new pathways and directions.
